FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK

Hello Adlanders,

When Bogdan approached me about writing for the Gazette, I was a little hesitant at first, but then I thought of the opportunity it would bring to share with the community, so I accepted.

T'is the season to be thankful, and with all the things that are going on in this old world, sometimes it's difficult to find anything to fill the slot. I do, however, have a short story I'd like to share here.

It was almost two years ago in December, when I came home one evening from a trip. I had been away for about a month, and I always have a little apprehension in the back of my mind as to what I'll find.  Everything looked normal, however, it was already getting dark. For the past ten years, I had always been turning off my natural gas line at the meter. To my dismay, I discovered it had been locked.  It was cold outside, and I needed natural gas for the purposes of heating the house, the hot water heater, and the stove. So I was pretty much out of commission.

I won't go into all the details of this story, however, I do believe that
everything happens for a reason. At this point in time, I feel that the
person who turned off the natural gas line was an angel, because I
discovered with dismay, after replacing the furnace and replacing part
of the natural gas line that was corroded, the flex hose line going to the
furnace had a crack in it and had  I turned it on, it could have caused an explosion which would more than likely have burned my house down and I could have been seriously injured or even killed.

So I am thankful that even though I thought at the time, I was not being treated fairly, it was He who was watching over me.

May your Holiday Season be filled with joy, happiness, and love. Please
share the warmth that you have with someone whom is close to you. Let them know they are important, and that you care for them!

Sincerely,

        James Wright

Adlandpro Support Tips

Putting together a good ad is not an easy task, sure you can get lucky and the first ad you put together may work, however putting together a string of good ads is a difficult task even for the most experienced on or offline marketer. What your ad states or overstates and how much is left to curiosity plays a big roll in the viewer's actions and ultimately decides whether the viewer clicks on the ad or visits your physical site! This is the yardstick you will use to measure your success.

In this order; what you want to accomplish is to first grab the viewers attention! This can be done by putting together your Ad Heading, this is always in a bold font which already helps to attract eyes. The idea is to form it like a newspaper story, headlines will grab attention, a viewer will then read the story underneath it (your ad body), here the idea is to state what you are offering, however do not overstate what you are offering in terms of information. The idea is to get the viewers attention, make them curious as to what is offered and they will visit your store or website and you will take over from there. An ad should be read by the viewers as an invitation, most will accept, even if they don't know if they require what you are offering.

Planning it out this way seems easy but, there is a lot of test trials to make sure that all of your ads can perform like this, it can be frustrating and it's definitely not easy. Make sure your ads are related to what you are actually offering, a viewer tricked to your store or web site because you placed some unrelated hype to have them click on your ad, may find some interest, however they may still feel that they were betrayed by the trickery and this could influence their decision negatively. Never put too much information into the ad body so the viewer can make the decision without a visit, the decision by the viewer to purchase or not, should not be made by your ad. Remember, your ads are invitations to your website or storefront and by nature most people are curious, there are very few that will refuse a peak at something regardless of needs.

What your ads says will say a lot about your success!

Until next time,

Barry Scott

Hello Fellow Adlanders,

New Year's Eve is a time to look back and reflect, and then more importantly,
look forward to the coming year. It's a time to think about the things we'd like
to change, and then resolve to follow through on those changes.

Here is a list of the top ten New Years Resolutions.  Did yours make this top
ten list?

1. Spend More Time with Family & Friends

Recent polls show that more than 50% of Americans vow to appreciate loved
ones and spend more time with family and friends.  Make plans to meet up with
friends for an evening of comaraderie at a favorite restaurant or take the
family to one of these popular places for family fun. Leave work alone this round.

2. Fit in Fitness

The evidence is in for fitness. Regular exercise has been associated with more
health benefits than anything else known to man. Studies show that it reduces
the risk of some cancers, increases longevity, helps achieve and maintain weight
loss, enhances mood, lowers blood pressure, and even improves arthritis. In short,
exercise keeps you healthy and makes you look and feel better. Why not make this
the time to start getting in shape for a popular Area Charity Walk, Run or Ride?

3. Tame the Bulge
Over 66 percent of adult Americans are considered overweight or obese by recent
studies, so it is not surprising to find that weight loss is one of the most popular
New Year's resolutions. Setting reasonable goals and staying focused are the two
most important factors in sticking with a weight loss program, and the key to success
for those millions of Americans who made a New Year's commitment to shed extra
pounds.

4. Quit Smoking

If you have resolved to make this the year that you stamp out your smoking habit,
over-the-counter availability of nicotine replacement therapy now provides easier
access to proven quit-smoking aids. Even if you've tried to quit before and failed,
don't let it get you down. On average, smokers try about four times before they quit
for good. Start enjoying the rest of your smoke-free life! There are a variety of
free support services, hotlines and smoking cessation classes to help you kick the
smoking habit.

5. Enjoy Life More

Given the hectic, stressful lifestyles of millions of Americans, it is no wonder that
"enjoying life more" has become a popular resolution in recent years. It's an important
step to a happier and healthier you! Consider a holistic healing center for products
designed to bring balance to your body, mind and soul. Or just get out and try something
new! Take up a new hobby or try your hand at skiing. Go to a theater performance, or
head to the local spa. Most major metropolitan area offer a wealth of artistic and
recreational activities to meet just about anyone's wishes.

6. Quit Drinking

While many people use the New Year as an incentive to finally stop drinking, most are
not equipped to make such a drastic lifestyle change all at once. Many heavy drinkers
fail to quit cold turkey but do much better when they taper gradually, or even learn to
moderate their drinking. If you have decided that you want to stop drinking, there is a
world of help and support available. Alcoholics Anonymous offers meetings throughout
most metropolitan areas. There is also a group for Parents of Teenage Alcohol and Drug
Abusers. There are also a number of treatment-based programs, as well as support groups
for families of alcoholics.

7. Get Out of Debt

Was money a big source of stress in your life this past year? Join the millions who have
resolved to spend this year getting a handle on their finances. It's a promise that will
repay itself many times over in the year ahead.

8. Learn Something New

Have you vowed to make this year the year to learn something new? Perhaps you are
considering a career change, want to learn a new language, or just how to fix your
computer? Whether you take a course or read a book, you'll find education to be one
of the easiest, most motivating New Year's resolutions to keep. Most Community Colleges
offer a wide variety of "lifelong learning" courses, and local YMCA's offer great
recreational training for beginners of all ages. They also offer distance and adult
education programs throught the internet. Or maybe the arts are more your thing, look
for Arts programs that also offer adult studio classes.

9. Help Others

A popular, non-selfish New Year's resolution, volunteerism can take many forms. Whether
you choose to spend time helping out at your local library, mentoring a child, or building a
house, there are many nonprofit volunteer organizations that could really use your help.
Or if your time is really in short supply, maybe you can at least find it in you to donate the
furniture, clothing and other household items that you no longer need, rather than leaving
them out by the curb to fill up our landfills.

10. Get Organized

On just about every New Year resolution top ten list, organization can be a very reasonable
goal. Whether you want your home organized enough that you can invite someone over on a
whim, or your office organized enough that you can find the stapler when you need it, these
tips and resources should get you started on the way to a more organized life. There are
many professional organizers who can help you reduce the clutter in your life and find peace
in your home.

Unfortunately, most New Year's resolutions never last more than 30 days. Whatever the
case may be, I wish that the year 2011 will be the best year of your life!

Sincerely,

James Wright
