FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK

Hello Adlanders,
November is a month where the leaves have fallen, the temperatures turn cold, nasty weather evolves and some of the worst storms of the season seam to find their way
into our lives. Unfortunately, this is my birthday month, and yes, I don't need another birthday, but come as it may, I might as well make the best of it.

Congratulations goes to Douglas Moon, for coming the closest to getting all the questions right on the quiz.

I have another 8 questions that I'm going to share with you to finish up this quiz that began last month.

Here they are:
11. What is the inscription on the tablet the Statue of Liberty holds in her left hand?
12. What is the name of the Ohio girl who became the most expert riflewoman in U.S history?
13. What is a campanile?
14. Where in the U.S. did women first have the right to vote?
15. Who was the Greek god of War?
16. What do penguins do to enable them to dive for their food?
17. Where and when did the greatest battle in U.S history take place?
18. What are the seven states that comprise the Arab League?

Once the Gazette is published, you will have 24 hours to come up with the correct answers without any help from the internet, or anywhere else.

Please send your answers to jameswright56@gmail.com

May the best person win :)

This month I'm honoring Roger Bjornerud.   As you may know, I'm one quarter Norwegian... My grandfather on  my mother's side immigrated from there. He was a
Johanson, but changed his name to Jensen.

Adland has been blessed with Roger's presence since  Monday, May 22, 2006.  Please welcome him to the Centerstage.

Roger, I had the privilege of visiting Tenerife in 1967. As you know there was a terrible disaster there in 1977.

As you prepare for the Thanksgiving Season, please remember to tell those who are important in your life how important they really are, and that you are so thankful to have them there with you. Once they are gone you cannot tell them anymore.

    May God Richly Bless You.

  Sales and Marketing Tips

The Home Based Business

In order for a home based business to be successful the owner of this business should have all the facts. Success is based on knowing exactly what the competition does, making sure your operation is organized and running smoothly and finding your niche in the market. Finding your market niche is determining what type of viewers are showing interest or buying from you and finding where they gather or where they go to look so you can advertise there.

This sounds simple enough, but the planning is always easier then executing the plan. I don't want to discourage someone from opening their own business, on the contrary I believe it's a great idea if you are prepared and know what the facts are. Some are good news and some can seem discouraging but knowing the facts and preparing a well thought out plan that can be realistically be reached will usually spell success. Some interesting points:

According to the SBA (Small Business Administration), there are approximately 15 million home-based businesses.

75% of online shoppers say they would not return to a website that took longer than 4 seconds to load.

The average age of a home-based business owner is 43 and 35% of home-based businesses bring in more than $125,000 in business per year.

Some of the favorite internet marketing promotions by retailers to generate sales: free shipping, value-added promotion, online-only sale, special repeat buyer discount, bundle offer and early-shopper discount rebate.

There are an abundance of these points from very reliable sources that are available online, these are good to know if they relate to a business that you are planning or already operate. You don't need to know them all but you should know the ones related to what you are offering.

CENTER STAGE

Please Welcome:

Roger Bjornerud

Hello Adlanders,

I live in Norway, I am married and have 3 children. when I have some spare time I like playing games and  watching movies with my family. Most things are more fun if you do them with someone.

I love music, almost any kind as long as it's good. I listen to music all day long, and I am happy to see that my children love music too, and often introduce  me to new exciting artists.

I also like to travel, and so does the rest of the family. We just got back from 14 days on Tenerife, which was great. Going to Sweden to celebrate with 700 other LR people in November and Prague in December to play a GSOP Live tournament.

Have to come up with something fun for January 2012. Probably going to the yearly launchparty for LR, which will be in Sweden next year.

I have been marketing online for over a decade. Amazing to realize that so much time has gone by already. The place I always return to is AdlandPro.

AdlandPro is great fun, but sometimes just a little complicated. Love the ability to contact so many marketers and being able to target the ones I think will appreciate what I offer. Lots of nice people there. :)

I have loved the concept of MLM from the first time I got introduced to it by a friend of mine many years ago.

Loving something and being successful is not the same thing. :)

After many years I found the right company for me. Actually it was my wife who found it, but she didn't really see what she found (all she wanted was a blue eyeliner).

The company we found was LR Health and Beauty. It could stand for Lisbeth and Roger. I like to think of it that way, and we say it all the time. ;) It's nice to be with a company that has been around for more than 25 years and keeps on improving constantly.

If you visit my webpage here on AdlandPro you will see that I am looking for partners in other countries.

Here's some tips for you and me. Yes, I need to follow these tips too. ;)

Focus on what you are doing while you are doing it. Complete what you have started. Know what you want to accomplish. Making a list is not a bad tip either.

If you don't know where you're going, how are you going to get there? Asking for directions is a good idea. ;)

Have Fun! :)
Roger

Business - Why Ethical Behavior Is Not Optional

  by Annissa Coy

For a business to achieve long term profits thus success they must have a good solid client foundation that is built on referrals. In order to do this a business must have good client relationships and these are not possible to attain without a good solid ethical business base. These ethics would never put profits ahead of what is the right thing to do on a higher level.

In order to talk about this in detail I think we need to look at the definition of ethics.

"Business Ethics" can be defined as the critical, structured examination of how people & institutions should behave in the world of commerce. In particular, it involves examining appropriate constraints on the pursuit of self-interest, or profits, when the actions of individuals or firms affects others." - Chris MacDonald, PhD

In a world full of opportunists and scams that bombard our clients everyday we would be foolish to not pay close attention to this topic. I promise you if you do not establish a solid ethical base by which your business always operates by not matter what, you are asking for disaster.

The one thing that will ensure your huge success is to build your business on referral based marketing. If is way more powerful for someone else other than you to tell your audience how amazing you are. And if that person happens to be a current client of yours then it is ten times more powerful.

Our clients have choices. This means they have the choice to spend their money and tell their friends how amazing you are. And they also have the choice to warn their friends and family not to do business with you at all. EVER!!

Do not underestimate the power of your clients. They are what make a business a business. Companies like Starbucks and Apple wouldn't be two of the biggest, profitable most popular businesses in the world if not for their clients. The reason Starbucks can get $4 for a $.50 cup of coffee is because in large part their business ethics. Their customers feel good about spending money with them because of how they feel about Starbucks.

So ask yourself...how do your clients feel about your business?

We live in an extremely connected world. If you ever doubt that just make a client feel you treated them in an unethical way and see how fast they blog, text or Facebook their friends and tell them not to do business with you. You cannot make a connection with your clients without ethics. How well a business is connected to its clients is what determines its success or its failure.

Remember just because you can legally do something in your business doesn't mean you should. Always error on the side of caution when it comes to ethics in your business dealings. If it doesn't feel right to you or you wouldn't want a business to treat you in that way then you probably shouldn't treat your client that way. Sometimes this can mean walking away from a situation even if it means losing money.
