FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK

Hello Adlanders,

October is a month of harvests, pumpkin patches, and scarecrows, of falling leaves and colorful hews and silhouettes of sunsets as the temperatures drop and the night deepens in the northern hemisphere.

October leads us into one of the busiest and hopefully successful time for internet marketers, and others as the holiday season approaches.

This month I've got a special treat for one person. Bogdan has agreed to give the first person who answers the questions below correctly and without cheating, a free membership to his Social Network Package.

This service creates accounts automatically on over 70 community networks and creates a page with access to each of those networks. This package has a value of $29.50. If you already have this package, you can either have it extended or Bogdan will provide you with a substitute package.

Below are the 10 questions for you to contemplate. Enjoy :)

1. Who are the Walloons?
2. In horse-racing jargon, what is a maiden?
3. How much starch does corn contain?
4. What is a minuend?
5. How many countries of the world have a larger population
than the US?
6. What are the five official working languages of the UN
General Assembly?
7. What is a graupel?
8. What did John Hancock say when he put his signature to
the Declaration of Independence?
9. What is the world's largest man-made lake?
10. Who was the first Christian Emperor of Rome

This month I've chosen to honor a long time Adlander to the realms of Centerstagedom. Her name is Diane Bjorling. She at first did not want to do it, but I'm thankful she gave in!

Please welcome Diane to the Adland Centerstage.

May you continue to be blessed in all your endeavors!

  Sales and Marketing Tips

Will "Sale" or "Special Offer" heighten awareness of your product?

Absolutely! It's an easy answer!

Everyone offers Specials, Sales or Limited Time Offers as they can be just the ticket for new releases, discontinued product lines, customer awareness or for branding your company name in a new market. Holidays are also a good time to offer products at a discounted rate as there are a large number of people who actually go out looking for deals before and after the holidays.

If you are in the position to make that type of offer with one of your products, it is a great idea to set up a campaign built around it.

People love to get a bargain but they love talking about it more, so make sure you brand them by implementing your company name or website into the offer so when they tell the story about the great deal they found to others, the "others" will be able to find you easily.

I have seen Specials that have run for a year or two and are still effective with new visitors, or regular visitors that have never visited the offer page and it brands your company name along with the sale. Right now is the best time to start as the holiday buying season has already started!

CENTER STAGE

Please Welcome:

Diane Bjorling

Isn't it funny, I had to look to see how long I had been with the Adland community ( no not old age...lol) and I have been a member since Thursday, April 27, 2006..quite amazing!

While I may not have remembered the exact date, I do remember the time and how I came to be here.

Like many people, I first went on line to play games, find music, recipes and all those cool things and it was after talking to some people who were not working, that my thoughts turned to working online, could it be done, how did one go about finding something that would work, would not be a scam and to be very honest would not have my kids worry or laugh at me.

Considering that at that time, I did not understand what a browser was and I typed using two fingers, one can understand my wonderful daughters mirth and of course their very real concern.

After doing the typical search of "working online" home business" and all the other search phrases that many people do, I came to the conclusion that my kids were right, but also they could be wrong.

I started a quest that has lasted to this day to be honest and that was... learning about the net, learning about what will work and conversely won't work for people and that has meant doing just about everything the hard way and yes being duped by the scams and spending money I really did not have (remember my daughters concerns?) I digress...sorry :(It so happened that I heard about Adland from another advertising place when doing my typical asking for help about how to do things, they (and I think they were getting very frustrated with me) suggested that I go to AdlandPro...so I did.

At first I placed ads and then more ads (that's what you were supposed to do wasn't it...lol) and noted all the links and being curious I clicked on "networking" and wham I entered a world I did not know existed.

I had to register and give a username...having never done that before, I spent a glorious few hours thinking of names ( don't groan please) I came up with the name helgit which was a hero from a science fiction book that I was reading at the time, never really understanding what I was doing.

For those of you who are fairly new, you would have to understand Adland at that time. Adland had the social aspect that many now consider Facebook, It had the interest grab, which many think of Twitter and it had the expression of Youtube and the place was just plain friendly and exciting for many.

I feel that many of us who joined around that time, feel the same way, this became a home away from home and many many good friends were made that for some have lasted to this day.

Over and above the friendships that were forged, I learned so many things from the people at Adland - learning how to be social, learning the basics of marketing and just sharing some darn good music.

I have never considered myself popular, usually when I had or have something to say I will and at times I have been called many things the least of which is I am controversial (that to me is a compliment)...but the one thing I have always done my best to be is honest and credible.

Adland has changed, but then so have we all and many of us have left the nest of Adland, but one thing I will say. I will never forget Adland and like many homing pigeons I will come back from time to time or I will bump into good friends here and there and we will share good times and like good friends we will laugh and reminisce.

So what am I doing now you ask? Still learning, still growing and still doing my best to help others...now a days that means showing people how to navigate the social media, how to create good content for blogs and how to succeed....there is one other thing I am doing...but that is for another day.

To all of you, have fun and may you find your own success.

  Success - What Is It?

  by Alexander Ebi Moros

The word success is a beautiful one. Everyone wants to identify with it. The musician, lawyer, politician, businessman, pastor etc want to be referred to as a successful musician, successful lawyer, successful politician, successful pastor, successful businessman. Even if armed robbers have the absolute command of the use of word, they would have referred to themselves as successful armed robbers. But that is not true.

Success is a very relative term and it has diverse connotations. Many persons would want to associate success with plenty money, a lot of property owned by an individual, so many honors and titles etc. The not wealthy man with a lovely wife and well behaved children is much more successful at the home front than a very rich man with violent wife and children. The sprinter that wins a gold medal at the Olympic Games is a success.

Success has universal application. It is not restricted to how intelligent or beautiful or influential a person is. No single individual has a monopoly of success. This means every person created by God with brain is a potential success. Except you have to begin the success journey no other individual could do it the way you can. Your ability to do the utmost best in any given situation propels you to the sweet domain of success

Principles for the attainment of success are immutable and do not change with time. Anywhere they are applied throughout the world they work without fail. The process of application may differ from place to place but the results are the same if well applied.

To succeed in life without fail, make sure you have a goal you will honestly work very hard to achieve. Set a definite terminal date for the actualization of the goal. You have to take concrete action to actualize the goal. You have to be patient and persevering, and do not quit before the attainment of that dream goal.

To succeed very well and achieve much in life, you have to plan towards that. The station of life of a person and how much success he attains in life, is determined by the goals he sets out for himself. To achieve monumental success in life you have to set high goals for yourself. Dream big and you succeed big, dream small and you achieve little. The measure of your dream determines the level of your success.
