Volume 1 - 14th Edition, July 2011

.

FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK

Hello Adlanders,

The 4th of July (Independence Day) is a federal holiday in the USA commemorating
the Declaration of Independence in 1776, releasing British rule. Independence Day is often associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions political speeches/ceremonies, and other public or private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States.

In honor of this day, I have highlighted John Wayne... "The Duke" saddling up to be one of America's favorite art forms, "The Western."  Below is some John Wayne trivia:

* April 6, 2004 Commemorative Postage Stamp by the US Postal Service
* Most leading parts as an Actor - 142; all but eleven films he played leading part
* Favorite Drink "Sauza Commemorative Tequila" on ice chipped from an iceberg while on his yacht "Wild Goose"
* Offered the lead to star in "The Dirty Dozen" (1967) but chose "The Green Berets" instead (1968)
* Evening before a shoot, Wayne was trying to get some sleep in a Las Vegas hotel. Directly below him was Frank Sinatra (not friends) who was having a party. The noise kept Wayne awake, and each time he made a phone call to the front desk to complain it would quiet for a short while, then grew louder. Wayne eventually appeared at Sinatra's door and asked to stop the noise. A body guard approached
saying  "Nobody talks to Mr Sinatra this way." Wayne looking at the man, turns as if to walk away, then backhands the guard, who falls to the floor and Wayne knocks him out by crashing a chair on top of him. The party noise stopped!
*Wayne's spoken word by RCA Victor album "Why I Love Her" was surprise best seller and Grammy Nominee when issued (1973)
* Although playing the same character in as in Ft Apache (1948), his character is spelled with an extra e at the end of Rio Grande (1950)
* In the climactic scene of The Searchers (1956), Wayne and Natalie Wood run up the side of a hill in Monument Valley Utah... and come down the other side in Bronson Park, Los Angeles... (1,200 miles away!)
*Words of Advice: "Talk Low, Talk Slow, And Don't Talk Too Much."

In honor of "The Duke" please enjoy the video "Why I Love Her."

This month we're featuring a long standing friend of Adland... Mr William
(Bill) Vanderbilt. Bill is on a mission to alert us about the toxic chemicals
involved with mold and the illnesses that it causes.

Enjoy!

Ideas to Promote your Website!

You have placed some ads, submitted to the search engines and joined a forum, is there anything more you can do? Some of you may have gone further than this which is an excellent start, but remember website promotion never stops.

One thing that does happen to a lot of Internet Businesses is they promote the same way over and over and honestly it can get boring. What I would recommend is continue the above but add some variety and additional ways to promote and it will stay exciting and with that so will the material you provide to your viewers.

Here are some ideas that you can use in addition to the ads, Search Engines and forums, use them all or some but stay consistent with it and in a short time you will see an increase in traffic as well as conversions. Address your website. Make sure the content updated and working:

• This should be done once a week, make sure that you links are working on all pages.

• Make sure you change the content on the Home page and change any special offers you have at least once a month.

• The viewer should feel like it can trust where they are: testimonials, policies and guarantees should be made visible and easy to find.

• What's new page that offers any specials, new products, company news or company future plans are a great way to keep interest and invite feedback.

• Offer surveys, quizzes or trivia. Viewers love to participate or read short interesting bits and feel like they have contributed.

• Make sure you are readily available to answer any questions and provide a time of when they can expect their answer. Ads and search engines and forums are great, but you can expand this in so many ways.

• Join forum groups where the members could have interest in your site. Remember not to go in with your promotional guns firing. Offer advice and opinion and naturally mention your site as a reference, not as a promotion.

• Offer free materials like samples, ezines or e-docs to the viewers; these can be mentioned in your ads and your site. Remember to change these monthly.

• Offer free product in return for a group that tests your site or provides referrals. Paying testers that check your site also provide you with great feed back and promotion. Remember to keep testers limited to a few months and change them up so you get fresh feedback and insight.

• Promote your site URL as part of your signature in emails or through any documents that are printed.

• Offline ads can include business cards or posters with your site information. These are great to leave posted on any bulletin boards or gathering places.

The above will keep things interesting for you and in turn that interest will reflect out to the viewers. Along the way you will come across other ideas that may help in your promotion. The bottom line is the change and the looks will bring you far more visitors.

William (Bill) Vanderbilt

Hello Everybody,

I'm Bill Vanderbilt and I've been around Adland since August 10, 2005. LaNell was my first friend and she introduced me to many great people here. I was born on April Fool's day in 1953 in Youngstown, Ohio. Originally, I had two brothers and two sisters and I am the oldest. My parents were divorced when I was about 11 and by age 12, Mom decided that going to live with my father for a couple of weeks might teach me a lesson. I was a trouble maker and was a bit more than she could handle. 2 weeks later, Mom, her new husband to be, and my brothers and sisters all came to Dad's to get me. They were headed for Kansas where Ed, our new step dad, had a job waiting for him at Forte Riley. He was a redeye missle technician.

I decided to teach Mom a lesson and I refused to go. After some serious talk and tears shed, they finally left, and I never saw them again until I was 18 years old. My friend John and I were heading for California from New Bethlehem Pa and I found them just by chance in Junction City Kansas. I had
heard that Mom lived there but I wasn't sure. I asked the postmaster in JC if he could share their address. He thought long and hard and decided to tell me, for which I was grateful. We went to Mom's house and knocked on the door. She opened it a crack and asked if she could help. I said yes, my friend and I would like to get a cup of coffee  and a bite to eat. She gave me directions to the nearest diner and closed the door. She had no clue.

Yep, that was Mom, but if I knocked again it would scare her so we turned to leave. Just then, the door open and Mom stood there looking at me and said "Billy?" I said yea Mom, it's me. What a reunion. I graduated from Chapman High a few months later. Then I moved back east, married my high school sweetheart and moved to Texas to start college. After joining the Air force, we had 2 beautiful daughters and divorced after 17 years of total bliss... LOL.

After years of wondering aimlessly I met another lady and we had a son together. He is 15 now and I went to his Mother's wedding a couple of years ago. We parted ways when Billy, my son was about 5. After several years I met another lady.. and we had a daughter together... This would be Savannah Rose that some of you know... that didn't work out either and I have not seen Savannah for over 2 years now. I'm living with a dear lady named Deb, with her daughter who is 33 and her grand daughter who is 7. We are quite happy in our situation and do not plan on having any children. I love each child dearly and have no regrets with regards to the Mothers...

My two main interests now are autism and toxic mold. Both of these have been very well kept secrets in America... I am convinced after 8 years research that vaccines are a primary cause of autism. Also, many illnesses we suffer from today are related to exposure to toxic mold. I have a new group here on Adlandpro. It is an advocacy group for more awareness about toxic mold. One of my threads lists the symptoms for this terrible tragedy and y'all are invited to stop by my page and have a look... You will be surprised at how many different illnesses and diseases are linked to mold. I have been sick from it for 5 years now and there is little hope for a complete recovery... I'd like to help other people avoid this illness and by awareness...  this is probably the best way.

Here is my link to that page in case you want to check it out.

May a smile follow you to sleep each night... and be there waiting... when you awaken.

Hi, My husband & I live in the Northern part of Missouri. We raise Registered Angus Breeding stock. We've learned a lot about genetics and how to get information. Lots of info to read and learn , how to manipulate genetics to get close to what you are trying to achieve.

Person of the Week - June 27, 2011

In many ways I seem myself as a Renaissance woman, not in the original definition of " marrying well" and having sons...lol... I have two daughters so that lets me out ..no when I say a Renaissance woman it means being accomplished or learning to be accomplished in a wide variety of tasks.
