Quote of the Day

How do you determine what your niche is?
(Read niche as a narrow targetable market)

“Competition creates better products,
alliances create better companies.”

– Brian Graham

(continued from last month)

As previously indicated, the bigger the number next to the keyword, the more popular the keyword is.

To further explain, every day, individuals conduct many keyword searches for specific keywords or keyword combinations  Therefore, if you come across a “hot keyword” then there is a large demand for this kind of product or your search is too generic and needs to be clarified further.

For example, let’s take the keyword “truck”. This keyword can mean many things and cover all kinds of situations associated with trucks. “Truck accessories” is more specific and refers to items that may relate to a truck. “Truck wheels”, would simply refer to the wheels of a truck and are even more specific.

Now return to Google.com search and type your keyword in the search box and press button “Google Search”. Results will be displayed and for example for search term “truck” Google will display 45,400,000 matches. For search term “truck accessories” Google displays only 8,540,000 and for ”truck wheels” 7,260,000.

Those numbers represent how much competition you have. If Google shows results in millions this will mean that competition is strong or your search keywords are too generic.

As previously indicated, you have to be careful here because you don’t want to enter an oversaturated market and you also don’t want to enter one where there is no interest.

One trick that I’ve found successful is to compare and use all your results to develop your marketing campaign. For instance, if you find keywords where the results on    https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal  are large and those on Google search are small then you should definitely use these keywords. This is because you’ll know that the keyword is searched frequently but there isn’t a lot of competition based on Google results.

In short: Google search results will show you how strong your competition is. Google keyword tool results will show you what the demand is. You want keywords with lots of demand and with little competition as possible.

The next thing you have to remember is that you must be creative when choosing your keywords. This is because individuals sometimes type in all types of keywords in hopes of reaching the right results.

For example, if your interest is offering piano music lessons and teaching students how to play the piano, then you might search for competitors by using the keyword “piano lessons”. You’ll then find that the market is oversaturated. If you do another search for “online piano lessons”, you will find that number of sites found for this combination is much lower. Adding your location e.g. “online piano lessons Winnipeg” will return even smaller results.

By narrowing your focus, the results you find will make more sense and will be more accurate.

A Dinner with God
Sam Sunday++

It was a very gloomy day! A friend I expected so much from had just disappointed me in addition to the unhappy event in my forum of inspirations, so I decided to end the day’s business and return back home. While driving home, I suddenly felt extremely famished. I had left the house early in the morning with some excitements and high expectations that I gave up my breakfast. Even at break time in the office, I again skipped lunch while patiently waiting for my august visitor who later called with some flimsy excuses.

Avarice
A confession?

Marcus Tullius Cicero - “Avarice, in old age, is foolish; for what can be more Absurd than to increase our provisions for the road the nearer we approach to our journey''s end?”

There are a wide variety of definitions for avarice, but most stress the excessive greed for wealth as being the core of the sin.

But is it really that bad? Is it really a sin?

I have been drawn to this subject through a recent posting at Adland where I was invited to suggest  my favourite car. What would I choose?

I confess to having test-driven a $400,000 Bentley and an Aston Martin and Mercedes most expensive coupe.

You need to understand at this point that, at a time in the past, I had been invited to take part in something that would involve me surfing the web into the early hours for day after day, for four years with a long-term huge return. The commitment had to be 100%.

To make this feasible I did what I teach. I carried a picture of that car in my pocket for four years. Every day I told this image “you are mine”.

Where does this take us? Well. I firmly believe that wealth in the right hands can be a blessing. There are people in this world who are self-motivating and who are innovators, inventors, who have practical imagination and whose overall intentions are not to make money, but it happens.

I believe that wealth makers who create jobs, opportunities and things that make life better are important to the lives of many whose lot is not to rise to wealth and fame. There are different levels of intelligence throughout all social strata and the determined are those who excel naturally some of course rise to wealth through inheritance or influence.

I have no problem with wanting such a car. Somebody has to design and make this thing of beauty. Somebody has to have a desire to acquire.

This brings up the main point of this brief discussion.

Is it wrong top want such a thing? I believe not. It is a question of priority.

Yes, it’s disgusting that I might own such a thing when people are starving in the world, but so it is when supermarkets and restaurants throw away perfectly good food. If that material item can drive just one person to achieve financial freedom then it can inspire others and thereby increase the prosperity of others.

Avarice is a sin. If wealth is wanted in excess for excesses sake, then it is. But if that car can act as a catalyst to drive me to greater things, so be it. All I can say is this:

My aim has always been to help other people with any wealth that I can accumulate. If, at the same time, I can reward myself with the goal that drove me on THEN I can set a new goal and use the same principle again.

Avarice is indeed the greed of possession to excess. Ambition is a driving force.

I’m a goal-setting consultant. I can’t help myself. It’s what I am naturally.

So, don’t feel bad about pursuing wealth, It’s what you do with it when you get it that determines sin or blessing I am convinced

It’s still a dream of mine, but so is making a difference in countless lives.

Share your love and compassion, they cost nothing.

Zeno - “The avaricious man is like the barren sandy ground of the desert which sucks in all the rain and dew with greediness, but yields no fruitful herbs or plants for the benefit of others.”

That''s Life...
The world as we know it.

One morning the husband returns after several hours of fishing and decides to take a nap. Although not familiar with the lake, the wife decides to take the boat out. She motors out a short distance, anchors, and reads her book. Along comes a Game Warden in his boat. He pulls up alongside the woman and says,

''Good morning, Ma''am. What are you doing?''

''Reading a book,'' she replies, (thinking, ''Isn''t that obvious?'')

''You''re in a Restricted Fishing Area,'' he informs her.

''I''m sorry, officer, but I''m not fishing. I''m reading.''

''Yes, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any  moment.

I''ll have to take you in and write you up.''

''For reading a book,'' she replies.

''You''re in a Restricted Fishing Area,'' he informs her again.

''If you do that, I''ll have to charge you with Sexual assault,'' says the woman.

''But I haven''t even touched you,'' says the game warden.

''That''s true, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment.''

''Have a nice day ma''am,'' and he left.

On the first day of school, the children brought gifts for their teacher.

The florist''s son brought the teacher a bouquet of flowers.

The candy-store owner''s daughter gave the teacher a pretty box of candy.

Then the liquor-store owner''s son brought up a big box.

The teacher lifted it up and noticed that it was leaking a little bit..

She touched a drop of the liquid with her finger and tasted it.

"Is it wine?" she guessed.

"No," the boy replied.

She tasted another drop and asked, "Champagne?.

"No," said the little boy.. "It''s a puppy."

A man had two of the best tickets for the FA CupFinal.  As he sits down another man comes along and asks if anyone is sitting in the seat next to him.

"No", he says, "the seat is empty."

"This is incredible!" said the man, "who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the Final, the biggest sporting event of the year & not use it?"

He says, "Well, actually, the seat belongs to me.  My wife was supposed to come with me but she passed away. This is the first Final we haven''t been to together since we got married."

"Oh... Gees ..I''m sorry to hear that. That''s terrible.  I guess you couldn''t find someone else, a friend or relative or even a neighbour to take the seat?"

The man shakes his head... "No. They''re all at the funeral."
------------------------------------------------------

Two brooms were hanging in the closet and after a while they got to know each other so well, they decided to get married. One broom was, of course, the bride broom, the other the groom broom. The bride broom looked very beautiful in her white dress. The groom broom was handsome and suave in his tuxedo. The wedding was lovely.

After the wedding, at the wedding dinner, the bride-broom leaned over and said to the groom-broom, ''I think I am going to have a little broom!''

''IMPOSSIBLE !'' said the groom broom. ''WE HAVEN''T EVEN SWEPT TOGETHER!''

President Obama was out jogging one morning along the banks of the Potomac when he tripped, fell down a bank and landed in the water below. Before the security guys could get to him, 3 kids who were fishing pulled him out of the water. He was so grateful he offered the kids whatever they wanted.

The first kid said, ''I want to go to Disneyland''.

Barack said, ''No problem, I''ll take you there in my special President''s airplane.''

The second kid said, ''I want a new pair of Speedo ''SHARK'' bathers.''

Barack said, ''I''ll get them for you, and even have Mark Spitz sign them!''

The third kid said, '' I want a motorized wheelchair with a built in TV and stereo headset!''

Barack was a little perplexed by this and said, ''But you don''t look like you''re handicapped.''

The kid said, ''I will be after my dad finds out I saved your ass from drowning!''

Did You Remember?

This month is all about memories.  In the first weeks of the month, we remembered our Mothers.  I have to say that I have one of the most marvelous Moms ever.  She raised SEVEN of us in the first years in a three bedroom,  one bath house on beans and corn bread.  The best part of it all is that my Mom was a hugger and she liked to laugh.  You can imagine how busy she was with five of us in diapers at the same time.  Thank you Mom!!!   Hugs to all of our Moms.  What the heck, hugs to all of you!  :)

The second part of the month here in the USA, we remember those that lost their lives in the military... Memorial Day.  I have several uncles who lost their lives in WWII and Korea.  We go out to the cemetary early in the morning and plant national flags on all of the graves of Veterans.  It is such a beautiful moment!  Breath taking... listening to the bugle... sombering to realize how many have given their lives for... our freedoms.  I salute those who have and do serve.  I shall never forget them!  Even though they at either end of the month, we also tie in the remembrance of the Halocaust with Memorial Day.  Never forget.

There are so many things celebrated this month it is hard to remember them all:  Hawaiian Lei Day, Mother Goose Day, May Day, Space Day, Susan''s Birthday, Cinco de Mayo, National Teacher Day, International No Diet Day, No Socks Day, Clean Up Your Room Day (Booooo!), Twiligt Zone Day, Kite Day, Prayer Day, Armed Forces Day, Peace Day, Victoria Day, Penny Day, Blueberry Cheesecake Day... I never realized how many things we celebrated just in this month!   Good thing it is also National Hamburger Month, National Salad Month and National Bar-B-Que Month.  :)

Not to mention that for many places it is the ending of the school year and of course spring cleaning has began for many.  I don''t know what all of you are celebrating this month, but I hope you will stop and remember to celebrate each other.  Adland has formed some very good circle of friends.  Some of the ways to celebrate each other is:  send a PM with a joke or affirmation, nominate for an award, post a reflection in their forum, rate them,  send them a smile.  My favorite is to HUG them!  And when they are nominated and the votes are being counted, did you remember?

Hugs to you all,

Joe Downing
